The First United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas was organized as a congregation in 1851 as a mission of the Dallas circuit. Members met in other buildings until 1876 when the iconic red brick building was completed. Although altered and enlarged, this building is the last of the turn of the century church buildings left in McKinney. It is surrounded by colorful crape myrtle trees that bloom every summer and is part of the Crape Myrtle Trail which draws many visitors every year.
